Childhood Cancer Foundation Funds Research Project on St John's Ward
Childhood Cancer Foundation is currently funding the medical research project “A randomised controlled trial to examine the effectiveness of reflexology for reducing symptoms in children/adolescents with cancer”.
This research project is a joint undertaking by a research team at UCD School of Nursing, The Julie Wren Trust and Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin and has commenced on St John’s Haematology/Oncology Ward.
The Julie Wren Children’s Cancer Support Centre www.juliewren.ie provides complementary therapies to children on St Johns Ward.
It is the only children’s hospital in Europe where complementary therapies are provided on the ward, to children in active treatment for cancer. We are aware, from personal experience of the benefits of complimentary therapy to children and parents on the ward and we are delighted to fund this research project.
