Eating and Supplies

The Hospital canteen is open to parents/guardians on weekdays only from 8am-2pm. It is closed on weekends/Bank holidays. 

There are 2 cafes in the hospital - The Oasis is located opposite the Canteen (opening hours -  Monday to Friday 0800-2300hrs, Saturday 0800-2100hrs, Sunday 0800-2000hrs) and the Jelly Bean located close to the Out Patient Department (opening hours - Monday-Friday 0700-1800hrs). Both sell hot food and drinks, sandwiches and other snacks. 

There is also a small shop by the reception selling confectionery, newspapers, toiletries etc. 

There are a number of supermarkets, fast food outlets within easy access to the hospital eg. on Errigal Road, to the rear of the hospital there is a Centra supermarket, a pharmacy, a fruit & veg shop, a butchers, a hairdressers and a chinese take away.  There is a Boots chemist and Costa Coffee on the Long Mile Rd across from the CMRF building, 5 minutes from the hospital.  There is a large SuperValu in Walkinstown which is about 10 minutes away by car.

Transport

There are two large screens in the main reception area providing real time details of all Luas services. The Red Line servicing Tallaght and Connolly Station has two stops within walking distance of the hospital. The Drimnagh stop is 10-15 minutes walk from the hospital. ATM Service

There is an ATM machine located opposite the Jelly Bean cafe in the Main Out Patients Department. There is an external post box located at Main Reception Desk. Stamps can be purchased in the Hospital Shop.

Car Parking.

There is one patient/visitor car park accessed near the Main Outpatients Department from the Cooley Road.

There is one pay station, located at the entrance to the Outpatients Department. The Pay Station does not accept €50 notes but there is an ATM outside the Jelly Bean café near the Outpatients Department. Both The Jelly Bean Café and the Oasis Café will give cash back on payments with debit/credit cards.

 Receipts are available at Car Park Hut or Hospital Security Office at main entrance.

Reduced rate parking: All parents /guardians attending OLCHC who have an inpatient stay greater than 10 consecutive days can apply for a long term patient reduced parking rate of €10 per week for a second or subsequent week(s). The application form is available from St John’s Ward and must be completed by the parent/guardian with medical details completed by the ward. On presentation to the Car Park attendant at the Car Park Hut you will be issued with a ticket valid for 7 days for automatic access to and from the car park. The application must be renewed every week of the stay.  

Parking spaces are very limited particularly on weekdays between 9am – 4pm when the car park is often full and there is no alternative but to park along one of the adjacent residential side streets.
