20% of childhood cancers - an average of 50 children diagnosed each year. Highest mortality rate of all the childhood cancers in Ireland.

Brain and spinal tumours (or central nervous system, CNS tumours) are the most common solid tumours to occur in children.  CNS tumours arise from different types of cells and are classified and named according to the cells in which they began. There are over 200 types including Medulloblastoma and Gliomas such as Ependymoma and Astrocytoma.
