5% of childhood cancers - an average of 13 children diagnosed each year.

Neuroblastoma is a cancer of specialised nerve cells, called neural crest cells. These cells are involved in the development of the nervous system and other tissues.  Neuroblastoma tumours can grow in the abdomen, neck or pelvis.  Most children diagnosed are <5 years old.  About 50% are classified as high risk, have a much lower prognosis and undergo very intensive treatment.
