Complementary Therapy Research Project

We are currently funding “A randomised controlled trial to examine the effectiveness of reflexology for reducing symptoms in children/ adolescents with cancer”.

This medical research project is a joint undertaking by a research team at UCD School of Nursing, The Julie Wren Trust and Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) at Crumlin and is taking place on St John’s Haematology/Oncology Ward.

The Julie Wren Children’s Cancer Support Centre provides complementary therapies to children on St John's Ward.

CHI at Crumlin is the only children’s hospital in Europe where complementary therapies are provided on the ward, to children in active treatment for cancer. We are aware, from personal experience, of the benefits of complimentary therapy to children and parents on the ward and we are delighted to fund this research project.
